Top 10s
Years ago, some bright spark came up with the concept that 80% of your success or
failure comes from just 20% of impacting factors. This is called the Pareto Principle or
the 80/20 rule for short.
In a business sense this translates to the idea that 80% of your revenue and profit
often comes from only 20% of your customers, or products; and that 20% of your
customers account for 80% of your customer service problems. Wouldn’t it be nice to
find out who these 20%s are?
The Top 10s report allows you to see what % of your business your Top 10 Accounts
Receivable, Accounts Payable, Customer Sales Year To Date, and Item Sales Year To
Date comprise. While it is not a true Pareto Analysis, it will tell you very quickly what
customers and products you need to focus on, and what supplier relationships you will
need to manage well.
This will allow you to focus your most precious non-renewable resource - your time -
on doing things and maintaining relationships that really count. It will also highlight
possible dependencies that your business has on customers, products or suppliers
that could leave your business exposed if trading conditions change (as they inevitably
will). No-one likes being held hostage to any one customer or a supplier, and this
report will highlight that possibility immediately.
For example, if your product/item widget X59 is going gangbusters and selling like it is
going out of fashion, it may very well be. But if it represents 60% of your revenue, what
will you do when the fashion has changed, and widget X59 becomes so yesterday that
it can’t even be given away?
The Top 10 report will allow you to plan for this eventuality long before it becomes a
reality. In this instance, forewarned is definitely forearmed.
Nothing else can give you any sort of Pareto Analysis
about your business this easily for just $198
